Submit to Augury Press

Queer fiction! Specifically, fiction that features queer themes and falls under the genres horror, science fiction, romance, or fantasy.

Short stories! Stories with a word count between 3,ooo and 5,000.

Unpublished stories! Stories that have not been shared on social media, posted on Patreon, included on a website, or bought and distributed by a publisher.

Augury Press gives priority to authors who self-identify as queer, BIPOC, neurodiverse, and/or disabled.

Augury Press is committed to responding to every submission within three months. Please do not inquire before three months have passed.

What if my story is rejected?

You'll receive an email that lets you know we rejected your story. If your story was rejected because it does not meet the requirements for submission, that will be stated.

What if my story is accepted?

We'll review the Augury Press contract together! All Augury Press authors are given a detailed timeline for when and how their work will be published, are paid a minimum of $.08/word, and are featured on our Twitter, Instagram, Patreon, and website.

-Augury Press does not accept mail-in submissions.

-Simultaneous submissions are accepted.

-Multiple submissions are not accepted. Please wait until you've received a response before submitting again.

-Previously published work is not accepted.

-Stories must be between 3,000 and 5,000 words long.

-Stories must have a queer theme/angle/identity, and fall under the genres horror, science fiction, romance, or fantasy.

-Check our submission guidelines.

-Then write us an email!

-In the body of the email, introduce yourself. Tell us your name and your pronouns, and give us an informal author bio. You can also list your website and/or social medias.

-Please note: you are not required to identify yourself as queer, BIPOC, neurodiverse, and/or disabled. If you do identify with any of these experiences, and choose to let us know, you will be given priority over cishet white neurotypical able-bodied writers. We will not publish or otherwise share any of your personal information without your explicit consent.

-Attach your story as a .doc or .docx file.

-Address your email to Theo Neidlinger or to Augury Press and send it to augurypress@gmail.com.

Currently, we are not calling for submissions. However, if you send us a submission, we will still review your work and let you know if we'd be interested in publishing it in the future.
